Tambi\u00e9n detectaron residuos de un compuesto amargo encontrado en el \u00e1rbol de cacao, pero no en sus parientes silvestres, evidencia de que fue cultivado con fines alimenticios, as\u00ed como fragmentos de ADN del \u00e1rbol de cacao.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u00abClaramente lo consum\u00edan como una bebida, como se muestra en su presencia en la boca de ollas y cuencos\u00bb,\u00a0dijo el antrop\u00f3logo y arque\u00f3logo de la University of British Colombia Michael Blake, quien ayud\u00f3 a liderar el estudio publicado en la revista Nature Ecology &amp; Evolution.<\/h4>\n<h4>\u00abLa presencia de granos de almid\u00f3n de cacao probablemente significa que molieron las semillas para hacer bebidas, y probablemente, aunque no estamos seguros, tambi\u00e9n fermentaron las semillas antes de molerlas\u00bb,\u00a0agreg\u00f3 Blake.<\/h4>\n<h4>La evidencia arqueol\u00f3gica muestra que el dominio del cacao se traslad\u00f3 hacia Am\u00e9rica Central y M\u00e9xico hace unos 4.000 a\u00f1os.
