En una entrevista para Univision 45, despu\u00e9s de haber sido\u00a0el ganador de la elecciones por la alcald\u00eda, Turner desestim\u00f3 la posibilidad por ahora de establecer un programa que le otorgue un tipo de identificaci\u00f3n a los inmigrantes, tal y como lo han hecho otras ciudades del pa\u00eds como Nueva York.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

\u00abEs muy costoso para la ciudad de Houston. No podemos absorber ese gasto\u00bb dijo el mandatario local, a pesar de que esta fue una de sus promesas electorales cuando\u00a0gan\u00f3 la alcald\u00eda por primera vez<\/a>\u00a0en el 2015. Aunque ya en el 2017, una vocera de la municipalidad, Janice Evans, hab\u00eda puesto en duda esa posibilidad. \u00abEl alcalde Turner no ha dicho que tiene inter\u00e9s en emitir una identificaci\u00f3n municipal\u00bb, asegur\u00f3 Evans.<\/span><\/h4>\n<\/div>\n

Esto supuso un rev\u00e9s en su momento debido a que varios grupos que apoyaban crear una identificaci\u00f3n para los indocumentados ve\u00edan con posibilidades en la gesti\u00f3n de Turner.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Sin embargo, Turner resalt\u00f3 que una de las medidas que pueden hacer es asociarse con una organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucre que trabaje para ayudar a los inmigrantes\u00a0indocumentados<\/a>.<\/span><\/h4>\n

A pesar de todo esto, el alcalde mostr\u00f3 su deseo de trabajar con todos los inmigrantes de la ciudad para resolver los problemas que tiene la regi\u00f3n como la seguridad y la infraestructura.<\/span><\/h4>\n

La ciudad de Nueva York<\/a>\u00a0se uni\u00f3 hace pocos d\u00edas, a la lista de ciudades de Estados Unidos, que le otorgan un tipo de identificaci\u00f3n a los inmigrantes indocumentados. En el caso de esa ciudad, las personas podr\u00e1n optar por una licencia de conducir aunque tienen que tener una serie de requisitos para obtenerla, sin importar el estatus migratorio.<\/span><\/h4>\n

California, Maryland, Nevada o New Mexico, son algunos de los estados donde los indocumentados pueden solicitar una licencia para conducir sin tener una situaci\u00f3n migratoria estable.<\/span><\/h4>\n
