Sin embargo, es una enfermedad prevenible por lo que es necesario concientizar a las personas del riesgo de la enfermedad y la importancia del diagn\u00f3stico.<\/p>\n<p>Detectar el c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata a tiempo puede ser la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte, as\u00ed lo afirma el doctor Luis Salgado, m\u00e9dico ur\u00f3logo onc\u00f3logo y coordinador del servicio de urolog\u00eda de la Cl\u00ednica Universitaria Colombia y profesional de la Unidad Funcional de C\u00e1ncer de Pr\u00f3stata, \u201cno olvidemos que es una enfermedad que no es igual a la sentencia de muerte, es una enfermedad que es curable y tratable desde las etapas iniciales\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Para el tratamiento m\u00e9dico que reciben los pacientes del c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata es importante aplicar rutas de atenci\u00f3n multidisciplinaria. Salgado comenta que el objetivo del tratamiento es \u201cindividualizar y personalizar cada etapa de la enfermedad que es diferente para cada diagn\u00f3stico del hombre\u201d. La realidad de cada paciente es distinta, por lo que el enfoque multidisciplinario permite la intervenci\u00f3n de especialidades como: enfermer\u00eda oncol\u00f3gica, psicolog\u00eda, urolog\u00eda y urolog\u00eda oncol\u00f3gica, radioterapia, enfoques de gen\u00e9tica y uropatolog\u00edas. Todas las opciones son beneficiosas, especialmente cuando estas se aplican de acuerdo con las necesidades individuales.<\/p>\n<p>Cabe recordar que, gracias al trabajo de la Unidad Funcional de C\u00e1ncer de Pr\u00f3stata, la Cl\u00ednica Universitaria Colombia fue reconocida en junio de 2024 por la Cuenta de Alto Costo como la IPS con Mejores Resultados en la Gesti\u00f3n del Riesgo de C\u00e1ncer de Pr\u00f3stata en Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>El c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata no tiene s\u00edntomas en sus primeras etapas, por lo que una vez comienzan los s\u00edntomas puede ya estar avanzado. Adem\u00e1s, los s\u00edntomas pueden ser inespec\u00edficos, el doctor Salgado comparte algunos ejemplos como \u201ccambios en la forma de orinar, sangre en la orina, pero cuando se vuelve un tema mucho m\u00e1s severo o avanzado podemos tener dolores articulares, dolores \u00f3seos, que nos pueden llegar a diagnosticar en una etapa desafortunadamente m\u00e1s tard\u00eda\u201d. No solo es necesario realizar un chequeo cuando se presenten s\u00edntomas, sino que es importante buscar atenci\u00f3n regular de expertos.<\/p>\n<p>Existen dos grupos de pacientes, aquellos que tienen historial m\u00e9dico de antecedentes y aquellos que no tienen familiares cercanos con c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata o con factores de riesgo.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>En el caso de tener familiares que cercanos con este tipo de c\u00e1ncer, es importante realizar las consultas desde los 40 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<li>En caso de no tener familiares cercanos con este tipo de c\u00e1ncer hay que realizar los controles desde los 45 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>El doctor Salgado brinda algunos consejos para tener en cuenta:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>El <strong>apoyo familiar es clave<\/strong>, \u201cah\u00ed quiero hacer un llamado a las familias, que tienen un rol muy importante, de esposas, hermanos, amigos, hijas, hijos, a llevar a ese hombre para consultar a tiempo y hacer una detecci\u00f3n temprana, que eso es la diferencia en esta enfermedad\u201d comenta el doctor Salgado.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Buscar distintos tratamientos y formas de cuidado,<\/strong> la salud no tiene que ser est\u00e1ndar, la experiencia de cada persona es distinta, por lo que hay que buscar ayuda con diferentes m\u00e9todos.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Para el doctor Salgado, el diagn\u00f3stico del c\u00e1ncer de pr\u00f3stata puede ser complejo, pero \u201ces maravilloso ver c\u00f3mo una familia atraviesa el diagn\u00f3stico, tratamiento y recuperaci\u00f3n.
