El director de la agencia europea que vigila las fronteras exteriores de la Uni\u00f3n Europea, Frontex, ha dimitido entre acusaciones de permitir las devoluciones en caliente. Una pr\u00e1ctica que es ilegal. Fabricio Leggeri es el director de Frontex desde el a\u00f1o 2015.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Fabricio Leggeri ha dimitido este jueves de su cargo como director de Frontex. Su mandato se hab\u00eda visto envuelto en pol\u00e9mica ya que la agencia de la UE OLAF hab\u00eda emitido un informe en el que se acusaba a la agencia de tener los ojos cerrados ante las devoluciones en caliente. Muchas ONGs hab\u00edan advertido durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os de los comportamientos de la agencia.<\/p>\n
La Comisi\u00f3n ha tomado nota de la dimisi\u00f3n con efecto inmediato del Director Ejecutivo de la Agencia Europea de Fronteras y Guardacostas (Frontex), Fabrice Leggeri. Como director ejecutivo adjunto de mayor rango de Frontex, Aija Kalnaja le sustituir\u00e1 y asumir\u00e1 la direcci\u00f3n de la Agencia con efecto inmediato. Para garantizar la plena continuidad de la agencia, la Comisi\u00f3n proceder\u00e1 r\u00e1pidamente a la contrataci\u00f3n y al nombramiento de un nuevo Director Ejecutivo, ha asegurado el Ejecutivo comunitario en un comunicado. \u00abPara la Comisi\u00f3n es prioritario contar con una Guardia Europea de Fronteras y Costas fuerte, eficaz y que funcione bien\u00bb, destacan.<\/p>\n
Frontex cumple una tarea de importancia cr\u00edtica para ayudar a los Estados miembros a gestionar las fronteras exteriores comunes de la Uni\u00f3n Europea, y para defender los derechos fundamentales al hacerlo. Pero para poder hacerlo\u00a0 \u00abFrontex debe ser una agencia s\u00f3lida y que funcione bien. La Comisi\u00f3n seguir\u00e1 apoyando plenamente a Frontex en esta misi\u00f3n\u00bb.<\/p>\n
A lo largo del a\u00f1o pasado, la Comisi\u00f3n intensific\u00f3 considerablemente su apoyo y asesoramiento a Frontex para garantizar la plena ejecuci\u00f3n de su mandato.
